On 20 November 1964 The Glad Rag Ball organised by London University took place at the Empire Pool, Wembley, London. The show started at 9 pm and finished at 7am. The show was hosted by Jimmy Savile and featured The Rolling Stones, Animals, Long John Baldry, Susan Maughan, Lorne Lesley, Ginger Johnson & his African Drummers and Humphrey Lyttelton. Ringo Starr and John Lennon of the Beatles attended.

The Beatles top the bill at the twelfth annual NME Pollwinner’s All-Star Concert at the Empire Pool, Wembley on 26 April 196 in from of “20.000 screaming, shaking, twisting fans”. The afternoon show took place just after the completion of A Hard Day’s Night and in the midst of rehearsals for Around the Beatles. They arrived at the venue in a catering lorry escorted by police motorcyclists, and spent just over ten minutes on stage, rattling through a set featuring “She Loves You”, “You Can’t Do That”. “Twist and Shout”. “Long Tall Sally” and “Can’t Buy Me Love”.
