In nearby Highgate earlier in the month, similar pictures (perhaps ones in which George looked a little happier) were fixed to the ceilings and walls in an anaesthetic room in Whittington Hospital to help soothe children on their way to the operating theatre. “The pictures have worked wonders”, a nurse told the Daily Mirror. “Most children, even young immigrants who perhaps cannot speak English, know and love the Beatles.”
